Major terror attack thwarted: East Jerusalem pharmacy student planned mass killing using deadly poisons

A 22-year-old Arab pharmacy student from Beit Hanina in East Jerusalem planned a mass terror attack against Jews using deadly poisons and explosives, according to an indictment filed today.
Mohammed Shalabi, a third-year pharmacy student who also worked as a pharmacy assistant, used his knowledge and access to chemicals while preparing what he described as a “serious” attack aimed at killing “many Jews.”
He joined Telegram groups linked to terror organizations, including ISIS, and downloaded dozens of files explaining how to make explosives and deadly poisons. He even copied recipes for poisons capable of killing through touch, breathing or drinking.
He then traveled to Ramallah on two occasions, bought chemicals and equipment while splitting the purchases to avoid suspicion, stored the materials in his bedroom and carried out a chemical test in his bathtub.
The plot was stopped before he was able to carry out the mass attack. He has been charged with preparing a terrorist murder attack and receiving training for terror purposes.
