Former Syrian intelligence officer reveals alleged burial site of Eli Cohen

Former Syrian intelligence officer reveals alleged burial site of Eli Cohen:
A former Syrian military intelligence officer who helped intercept Israeli spy Eli Cohen's transmissions in Damascus in 1965 claims Cohen was buried beside a heavily guarded military base and that his remains are still there.

Said Gawish told Al Majalla that senior Syrian intelligence officials chose the site during a secret meeting hours before Cohen's public execution on May 18, 1965. Their goal, he said, was to prevent Israel from ever recovering Cohen's remains while keeping the grave under permanent guard without attracting suspicion.
Gawish also said he later discovered that Cohen's wristwatch was still being worn decades later by the Syrian officer who originally interrogated him. He also described recent backchannel efforts that recovered classified archives from Cohen's case file.
