Early Release Begins: Around 700 prisoners are expected to be released from jail today as Labour's latest early-release changes come into force, with around 4,500 additional prisoners expected to be released across ten phases over the coming months.

Under the changes, most prisoners serving standard fixed-term sentences can now be released after serving just one-third of their sentence.
Most of today's batch are also reportedly expected to leave prison before an electronic tag has been fitted, amid continuing delays and pressure on the probation and electronic-monitoring system.
