Archbishop Faces Resignation Calls:

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dame Sarah Mullally, is facing calls to resign following uproar over an award she presented to Pakistani Islamic cleric Tahir Ashrafi at Lambeth Palace on the 25th anniversary of 9/11.

A photograph of Mullally alongside Ashrafi and his niqab-wearing wife has also prompted accusations that the Church sent a “deeply troubling message” about the oppression of women.

Lambeth Palace has now withdrawn the award, but the row continues to grow. Critics are calling it a catastrophic failure of judgment and demanding Mullally's resignation.
